A news posting done today at 5oz of Pain reports that BJ Penn is again seeking a shot at the UFC 170lb strap.
While this is nothing new and we have discussed it here before, I just dont see it being done. Dana White has been adamant in the past about BJ sticking at lightweight , he also hasnt openly opposed him moving on after one more fight.
While I believe that the driven and motivated BJ Penn of today would avenge his close decision loss to St. Pierre, and thoroughly dominate Fitch, there is something to be said for a champions legacy. A legacy is built through dominating your opponents in your class and ruling a division, much as Matt Hughes did until the last year or so.
This would also potentially put two of the UFC's most exciting division on hold if Penn was to win both titles ,and be expected to defend both, something that could downgrade the main events of a few shows a year.
