Intimidation Cage Fighting's ICF 16 took place on October 23, 2009 at the ICF Fight Club in Cincinnati, Ohio. ProFighting-fans.com was in attendance with editor-in-Chief Scott Dryden covering the event that featured undefeated lightweight Chad “H-Bomb” Hinton in the main event against Justin Moore. Look to Pro Fighting Fans for the complete ICF 16 results as well as the ICF 17 results for the October 31st event.   Amateur Fights at ICF 16: Steven Singleton vs. Daniel Harrington - Lightweight: In a fast paced fight, both fighters threw everything they had at each other. Each connecting heavy shots with Singleton gaining the upper hand forcing Harrington to tap out :54 into the 1st round.   Robbie Walker vs. Trent Thomas - Welterweight: Another fast paced fight, with each making their cage debut. Walker quickly grabbed a guillotine choke forcing Thomas to tap out :27 into the 1st round.   Shiva Mahabir vs. Gregg Stracener - Batamweight: Stacener grabbed the early control with a guilltonie, Mahabir quickly reversed showing great athleticism. Mahabir, with Stracener’s back, ended the fight with a series of blows. Mahabir wins :51 into the 1st round via TKO due to strikes. Keep an eye on this kid. Joel Miller vs. Yancey Martin - Welterweight: A very competitive 1st round with Martin winning as he controlled the top position throughout most of the round. In the 2nd round Martin gained the top position using great balance and hip control. Miller attempted a triangle choke to no avail as Martin pulled out. Martin continued the top position but did little damage. In the 3rd round Miller gained the top position only to be swept by Martin. Referee Greg Franklin stood them up with little action occurring. Miller landed a solid strike and appeared to be superior in the stand up but could not avoid the take down. Official decision: Yance Martin via a unanimous decision.   Doug Keefe vs. Joe Maiani - Lightweight: Maiani quickly grabbed a takedown to open the fight and grabbed side control. Maiani was unable to do much damage but did maintain enough control to win the round. Joe did the same at the start of the 2nd gaining side control. Maiani landed several hammer strikes but couldn’t maintain position as Keefe got back into his full guard. The referee didn’t feel Maiani was trying to improve his position and stood them up. Maiani wins the 2nd round due to the takedowns. In the 3rd, Keefe caught Maiani with a wicked right handed sending him to the ground. Keefe quickly landed several shots and grabbed a choke finishing the fight :56 into the 3rd round. The official decision was due to an arm triangle. In my opinion it looked more like an anaconda choke but it happened very quickly.   Brett Ewing vs. Wesley Barrantine - Featherweight: Ewing quickly grabbed a takedown into Barrantine’s full guard. Ewing stacked him and landed several shots. Barrantine grabbed a triangle choke which appeared to be tight but Ewing used his athleticism to escape the choke. Barrantine then grabbed an arm bar which Ewing rolled out of. The round ended with Ewing on top dropping punches. A very entertaining round that will be difficult to score. I give the round to Ewing. Ewing began the 2nd round with a powerful take down falling into Barrantine’s full guard. Ewing wins the 2nd round relatively easy. In the 3rd, Ewing grabbed a double leg takedown and started a devastating ground and pound which ended the fight. Brett Ewing wins via TKO due to strikes.   Alexander Smith vs. Eric Moell - Bantamweight Title Bout: Smith gained the top position but almost got caught in a triangle choke. Smith escaped and gained a full mount position. Smith landed several punches then Moell swept him and gained the top position. A close 1st round with Smith getting the slight edge. The 2nd round started with Smith quickly grabbing a guillotine choke. Alexander Smith gains the title via tap out due to a guillotine choke :15 seconds into the 2nd round.   Marcus Finch vs. Macho Richie Mayes - 195 lbs: Most of the 1st round was spent feeling each other out. Mayes grabbed a take down near the end of the 1st round which may have won him the round. The 2nd round contained little action as both fighters were very hesitant. Mayes landed a kick to Finch’s groin which halted the fight for a brief time. When the action resumed, Mayes loaded up with a right hand that missed. Finch is usually a very good active fighter but not in this fight thus far. Mayes wins the 2nd round by default. The 3rd round was more of the same with Mayes landing a few leg kicks. Finch landed a takedown as the round ended. I had Richie winning the fight. Finch usually fights at 185 and is typically aggressive, at 195 he looked like a different fighter. Official decision Ri ...
