With attractions like Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and Parliament, there’s no doubt that London is one of the most beautiful and exciting cities in the world. But when Paulo Thiago makes the trip to London he won’t be seeing any of it. He’s there for one thing and one thing only—to kick some ass at UFC 95.
As a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Thiago is obviously a phenomenal fighter. In fact, he’s managed to rack up a 10-0 record in Brazil’s Jungle Fight League and has picked up MMA apparel company, Basthardt, as a sponsor. Now he’s bringing his undefeated record to UFC 95 in London on Saturday, February 21st and putting it all on the line against the always-dangerous Josh Koscheck.
Thiago is managed by the legendary Wallid “the Gracie Killer” Ismail. According to Ismail, Thiago is the real deal.
“Paulo has beaten some of the best fighters in the world in his Jungle Fight bouts” says Ismail. “He’s always wanted to fight in the UFC. He’s not going to London to sight see. He’s going to win. This fight is going to be the first of a long and prosperous career in the UFC.”
That doesn’t mean Thiago is going to take Koscheck lightly. After a tough loss to Thiago Alves at UFC 90, Koscheck stepped up and beat Yoshiyuki Yoshida via an impressive first round knockout in the main event at UFC: Fight for the Troops. That victory sent a message to the MMA community. Koscheck isn’t going away any time soon.
But Paulo Thiago is used to tough opponents. As a member of the most elite unit in the Brazilian Military Police (BOPE), Thiago has faced countless drug dealers, gangsters and assorted criminals. A nice American boy like Josh Koscheck should be a welcome distraction from the thugs he deals with everyday on the streets of Brazil.
So what does the future hold for Paulo Thiago? According to Wallid Ismail, “Thiago isn’t worried about that right now. All his focus is on what he needs to do at UFC 95 in London next week. Fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship is Thiago’s life long dream.”
UFC 95 in London will be his first step to having that dream fulfilled.
